Tanglin Trust School crowned Gold for Best UK Pathway
Posted on 13th Oct 2021 in School News, SingaporeTanglin Trust School is delighted to announce that it has been crowned Gold for Best UK Pathway at HoneyKids International School of the Year awards 2021.
Strongly rooted in British heritage, Tanglin was established in 1925 and is the oldest British International school in Southeast Asia. 2021 marks its 96th year of providing British-based learning with an international perspective to an expatriate community, primarily comprised of UK passport holders.
Tanglin’s win is testament of its quality education: each of Tanglin’s schools are inspected every three years, following UK Ofsted British Schools Overseas (BSO) standards. The school has been repeatedly described by UK inspectors as Outstanding, the highest possible grade. This outcome is the result of carefully curated curriculum, which draws strongly from the rigour of the English National Curriculum, from Infant through Senior School. As one of the few not-for-profit schools in Singapore, all fees are devoted to providing an outstanding education to Tanglin’s students.
Tanglin is the only international school in Singapore to offer A Levels as well as International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes at Sixth Form, allowing students to choose the pathway best suited for them, and to prepare them for further study in the UK. Students’ exam results have been amongst the highest in Singapore for many years and vastly exceed UK and global averages.
More than 97% of Tanglin’s graduates were admitted to the first or second university of their choice. The primary university destination is the UK. Once back in the UK, Tanglin has a robust Alumni programme to support and engage its UK alumni community. Each year, the school identifies the Top 20 university destinations of its graduating cohort and connects graduates with a representative at each university who is a Tanglin alumni. The network is so strong that Tanglin’s alumni network was mobilised to settle new students into Universities in the UK in 2020-21 as many parents were unable to travel with their child to set them up at university due to COVID-19.
