King William’s College 2019 Barrovian alumni intern heads to Hong Kong

Politics and International Relations student Dominic Long has travelled to Hong Kong to begin the prestigious King William’s College Barrovian Alumni Internship.

On Friday 28th June he left the Isle of Man to spend three months gaining invaluable experience at Strix’s south-east China office. 21-year-old Dominic is currently studying for a BA Honours in Politics and International Relations at Loughborough University. He will follow in the footpath of former recipients, Oliver Mealin and Thomas Dutnall.

The Internship Scheme was launched in 2017 as a joint initiative between King William’s College and global manufacturer Strix, and offers a unique opportunity for College alumni to gain valuable skills and practical work experience.

Working alongside Strix's Business Project Manager, Dominic will work on multiple projects, developing key skills across a number of disciplines and, equally as important, enjoying the unique experience of living and working within Hong Kong and its diverse and multicultural environment.

Dominic said: ‘I am really looking forward to experiencing first-hand the vibrant city and its complex culture. I have multiple family members who have lived there and as a result my curiosity has only grown over time.

‘I am hoping in years to come I can look back to this summer and be able to say I really took a step outside my comfort zone and matured because of it. I would like to thank King William’s College and Strix for giving me this once in a lifetime opportunity.’
