JIS students achieve 115 Pearson Education Awards

Jerudong International School is pleased to share that 95 students who sat for their IGCSE and A Level examinations in 2023 have achieved 115 awards from Pearson Education.

Every year, the Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards (OPLAs) are presented to students who sat for any Pearson qualifications during an exam series, who have achieved the highest subject mark in their country, in the region or even in the world.

Remarkably, Wesley Lim, a Bruneian student from Jerudong International School (JIS), attained the Highest Mark in the World for his Pearson Edexcel International A Level in Economics. Wesley also achieved the Highest Mark in Brunei for his Pearson Edexcel International A Level Physics qualification.

Muhammad Afiq Abdul Rahman, a Bruneian Ministry of Education Scholarship student at JIS, received the Highest Mark in Brunei for his Pearson Edexcel GCE A Level Mathematics examination. Currently, Afiq is a Year 13 student at JIS and took this Mathematics exam a year early, while in Year 12.

Furthermore, eight students achieved the Highest Mark in Brunei for an IGCSE subject. Subjects included: English Literature and English Language, Chemistry, Further Pure Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Double Award Science, Economics, Mathematics A, History, Business, Geography and Music.

In addition to this, 94 Pearson Excellence Awards were given to JIS students that received excellent results across multiple IGCSE and A Level examinations in 2023.

JIS Principal, Nicholas Sheehan commented, “I couldn’t be more proud of our students and I know that their results will propel them forward in their future academic path, whether they’re still at JIS doing their A Levels or IB Diploma, or have already graduated and are currently at University. Congratulations to these students, their families and also their teachers for their amazing hard work and results.”
