Who we are:

At The British School of Amsterdam (The BSA), we see ourselves as a bridge - an empowering connection, an inspiring portal, and a nurturing link for your child's future. For us it is about where you wish to go in life more than where you have come from. It is about desired outcomes. It is about your future, and we are the bridge to that future.

We set out not just to offer the highest standard of academic teaching through the acknowledged National Curriculum used in England leading to GCSE and A Level qualifications, but to do much more. Our aim is to provide, as well, the practical life skills that will help our students get to where they need and want to go - to the world's top universities and to satisfying careers.

We are the only school in Amsterdam to offer the full British Curriculum, which is accredited in all countries, and by the world's finest universities, thanks to its breadth and depth. Our high-quality and stable staff body provides not just superb teaching but also the level of pastoral care which allows each child to feel recognised as an individual - only then can they give of their best and be enthused by their learning.

What we offer:

We have three school sections, the Early Years School for children aged 3 to 6 years old, the Junior School for 6 to 11 year olds and the Senior School for 11 to 18 year olds. Each has their own distinctive character that offers a stimulating environment where students benefit from small class sizes and truly talented teaching staff. Classes for the Early Years and Junior Schools do not exceed 24 and for the Senior School, we do not exceed 22 in a class. In 2023, 36% of students at A Level achieved A* or A grades (11% above the UK national average) and at GCSE, 64% of students achieved 9-7 / A* or A grades (42% above the UK national average).

Our school building has some of the finest educational facilities in Amsterdam including a large sports hall, designated outdoor playgrounds, a theatre hall, as well as fully equipped science laboratories and music rooms. The school is located in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid near several green spaces, and is easily accessible for families commuting from different parts of the city and surrounding areas.
