Hamelin-Laie International School Barcelona is a thriving community of over 45 nationalities, where students learn in English as well as Spanish and Catalan. Part of the Nord Anglia Education family, we shape open-minded citizens who'll make their mark in our globalised world.

Our vibrant international community is a place where your child will embrace exciting learning experiences both inside and beyond the classroom.

Whatever your child wants to do or be in life, we'll ensure they have everything they need for success. Our talented teachers will guide them through their unique learning journey, encouraging their interests, passions, and talents. At every opportunity, our staff will help them to push boundaries and challenge themselves.

Our history:

Hamelin-Laie International School Barcelona opened its doors in 1989. We were the first private school in Barcelona to offer learning in English, Spanish, and Catalan. Authorised by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Spain (MEC) - and the world-renowned International Baccalaureate - we continue to be the leading multilingual school in the region.

Since our founding, Hamelin-Laie has continued to grow, and we have added a premium boarding programme that’s home to a diverse international community of up to 45 students.

In 2022, we joined the Nord Anglia family, an international schools' group with an outstanding reputation for academic and personal excellence worldwide.

Academic Excellence:

At Hamelin-Laie, our students immerse themselves in a bespoke academic programme adapted from the Spanish National Curriculum with many integrated global contexts, from our international learning environment. This is packed with engaging experiences, and project-based learning to foster emotional, social, listening, and critical thinking skills.

Throughout their academic journey, your child will primarily learn in English. They'll also be exposed to Spanish and Catalan through dedicated classes. From primary school onwards, we also offer a fourth language (French, German or Mandarin. Our IBDP students can choose from Spanish, Russian or Mandarin).

Our approach develops a breadth of skills that students carry with them into the future. We strike a thoughtful balance between nurturing personal growth and academic achievement, which takes our graduates to top universities across the globe.

Our Campus:

The Hamelin-Laie International School Barcelona campus is unlike any other. Situated in the safe and friendly town of Montgat, just 20 minutes from the historic heart of Barcelona, our modern, purpose-built school environment is surrounded by green spaces and natural beauty.

Our cleverly designed, free-flowing areas enable students to take in everything our extraordinary beachside location offers. Sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea and local mountains inspire them, as they learn and play indoors and outdoors.

An Exceptional Home Away from Home

Hamelin-Laie International School Barcelona is so much more than a school for our boarders. We're a second family, a thriving international community in Spain, and a place where 24/7 care, guidance, and friendship inspire our students to make their mark.

Your child will join a close-knit community of up to 45 secondary students, supported by our caring house parents and dedicated staff. They'll be guided throughout their time here by our brilliant boarding staff, who are available around the clock to provide invaluable support.

Living and studying in our international boarding house builds our students' confidence and independence, as they get ready to take on the world. We encourage our boarders to develop healthy habits through personalized health and wellbeing support. During supervised study in the evenings, our boarders also take advantage of extra help and tutorials from our academic staff.

Our Social Purpose

Students at Hamelin-Laie International School Barcelona are a genuine force for good. Whether they're leading the way to increase our sustainability or supporting an important cause through fundraising, they take a hands-on approach to problem-solving in our community.

Global Awareness

At Hamelin-Laie, we want our students to have an open-minded worldview. Enhancing their global awareness becomes a key aspect of this, including how they connect with and help others.

On Human Rights Day and World Peace Day, our students lead their own classroom activities and assemblies. They also get involved in our Nord Anglia collaboration with UNICEF to support causes worldwide. Some can participate in the UNICEF Summit at the United Nations in New York, where they show outstanding leadership skills as they speak about the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

We'd love to show you around our campus either in person or online, where we'll discuss how we can prepare your child for an extraordinary future. Contact us at <B>admissions@hamelinschool.com or take our virtual tour: https://guiap.com/360/hamelinschool/
